Jason Mitchell of the outdoor program Jason Mitchell Outdoors recently filmed a fishing segment on Fort Peck Reservoir recently in eastern Montana.
The show will highlight the incredible lake trout fishing for which Fort Peck is famous.
"I had heard about the laker fishing on Fort Peck for several years and had always wanted to see it so we came out late in the fall when the fish move in really shallow and can be caught with several methods. Giant lake trout in shallow water is about as good as it gets," explained Mitchell.
Mitchell fished near the face of the dam and trolled with a crankbait called the Salmo Perch 8SDR in 15 feet of water.
"I literally got tired of catching them and lost track of how many I caught and some of the fish were over 20 pounds so that is incredible lake trout fishing," added Mitchell.
Several giant lake trout were landed “on camera.” The film crew will also be back in the area in a few weeks to attempt filming a mule deer hunt.
