David Murray

David R. Murray died Monday, Dec. 10, 2018, at the Roosevelt Medical Center in Culbertson.
He was born April 24, 1932, to Arthur (Boston) and Myrtle (Astrope) Murray in Culbertson. He attended grade school at Flat Center Country School just two miles north of their home, 14 miles west of Homestead. They moved into Medicine Lake so he could attend high school. He graduated valedictorian of his class in 1950. Due to his father’s illness, he stayed home to help with the farming and lived there the rest of his life.
He married his high school sweetheart Imojean Lyson March 20, 1954. They made their home on the farm for the next 64 years. He took great pride in his farming and ranching.
Being self-taught on everything, he never found anything that was too big a challenge. He added a bathroom onto his mother’s house when he was 18 years old. It was probably one of the first sunken bathrooms in the country. It turned out fine except the floor was about an inch and a half lower than the adjoining room.
He loved bowling, camping and traveling, but his hobby was probably work. He was by nature a quiet man and a very hard worker. He especially enjoyed following his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren in all of their sporting activities.
He was a member of the Medicine Lake Congregational Church and served on the board for many years.
He is survived by his wife; son, Kim of Froid; daughter, Judy Grimsrud of Bainville; son, Jack of Great Falls; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Laverne Rickel.
Cremation has taken place and there will be a private burial later this summer.
