RMHF Ball Drop To Be June 10

Something is going to fall from the sky June 10.
The Roosevelt Memorial Healthcare Foundation selling tickets for their first ever ball drop fundraiser. On June 10, following the youth and regular parades, some 500 ping-pong balls will be dropped out of a small aircraft over the Roosevelt County Fairgrounds. The winner of the $500 grand prize will be the person whose ticket matches the ball number that lands in, or nearest to the bull’s-eye.
Participants need not be present to win. The winner will be notified if not present.
Proceeds will be used to continue the flooring project at Roosevelt Medical Center.
“We have received such a great response from the community members who have seen the new flooring in the lobby and resident dining room. We want to continue this project into other high-traffic patient areas in an effort to continue updating parts of the facility over 40 years old,” said Jaimee Green, marketing/foundation director.
This year, the foundation hopes to raise roughly $76,000 to complete an additional 9,000 square feet of flooring in the patient hallways and clinic area. In February, 3,250 square feet of flooring was laid at a cost of $27,327.
This year’s proceeds from the Fall Fright Fest, set to take place Oct. 7, have also been designated for the project.
Hospital volunteers will also set up as a food vendor on June 10 at the fairgrounds and sell Indian tacos and sugared Norkies from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. with proceeds earmarked for the project.
Board members chose to direct the money raised locally through fundraising efforts to the flooring project because it is difficult to find grants to cover the expense of updating the facility.
Dallas O’Connor of Dallas Aero in Poplar is donating his airplane and time to provide the fly over and drop the balls.
