Bainville, Froid And Culbertson To Hold School Board Elections

The election of the Culbertson School Board of Trustees will take place Tuesday, May 8, at the new school gymnasium. Polls will be open from 12 p.m. until 8 p.m.
For Culbertson, two three-year positions are open. The terms of Cheryl Kirkaldie and Paul Finnicum will expire. As of Monday, March 26, Paul Finnicum and Mark A. Colvin filed for the election.
Voters also have the option of a write-in candidate until April 5 at 5 p.m. Should no one declare a write-in, elections will be canceled since there are only two positions open and two people running currently. Those running will then be appointed by acclamation.
The qualifications for persons wishing to run for the school board must be at least 18 years of age, have resided 30 days in the District and must be a registered voter.
Nominations of candidates for membership on the Culbertson school board must be filed by Thursday, March 29, if their names are to appear on the ballot. Any five qualified electors of the district may nominate a person as a trustee candidate. No person signing a petition may sign more nomination petitions than there are trustee positions open.
Blanks for filing for school board are available from the school clerk, Lora Finnicum, at the school or at her home.
Write-in candidates must be filed with the school clerk and the declaration must contain the candidates’ name, the candidates’ mailing address, statements declaring candidates’ intention to be a write-in candidate, title of office sought, date of election and candidates’ signature.
Levies, if needed for operation and maintenance of the school for the 2018-19 school year, will also be voted on.
If you are not a registered voter and would like to vote in the school election, you must register by April 9. Persons wishing to register to vote may do so at the clerk and recorder office, a duty register or a notary public.
Persons may also register by requesting forms by mail from the Roosevelt County Clerk and Recorder. If you miss the regular registration deadline, late registration is available through the clerk and recorder’s office until noon on May 7 and will resume on election day, May 8, from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m.
The election of the Bainville School Board of Trustees will take place Tuesday, May 8. Polls will be open from noon. until 7 p.m. at the Bainville School commons. Two three-year positions will be open. The terms of John Gilligan and Tyler Traeger will expire.

The deadline to request an absentee ballot is noon on Monday, May 7.
The election of the Froid Public School School Board of Trustees will take place Tuesday, May 8, from noon until 8 p.m. in the New Gym. The terms of Linda Labatte and Scott Westlund are to expire.
As of Monday, March 26, Labatte, Westlund and Blake Murray have filed for the election.
Froid will also have five mill levies in the election. For the elementary district, the mill levies will be the general fund and the building reserve fund. For the high school district, the mill levies will be the general fund, building reserve fund and the technology fund.
