Culbertson Hosts Speech And Drama Meet

Culbertson hosted an invitational meet on Saturday, Dec. 8. Sixteen schools, 165 students, 34 coaches, 52 judges, numerous runners and countless spectators arrived to spend the day.
Placing for Culbertson were: JT Eanes, first in spontaneous oral interpretation; Violet Azure, first in impromptu; Rachael Gilbert, first in informative; Emma Voigt, second in dramatic solo; Summer Romo, second in spontaneous oral interpretation; Zach Miller, third in memorized public address; Elise Rattling Thunder, fifth in memorized public address; and Colby Olson, seventh in dramatic solo.
CHS speech won the gold and drama tied for first.
Overall school placings were:
Class A Drama: first, Sidney; second, Hardin; third, Custer County District High School.
Class B Drama: first, Baker; second, Glasgow; third, Colstrip.
Class C Drama: first (tie), Circle and Culbertson; third, Plentywood.
Class A Speech: first, Sidney; second, Custer County District High School; third, Dawson County High School.
Class B Speech: first, Glasgow; second, Baker; third, Forsyth.
Class C Speech: first, Culbertson; second, Plentywood; third, Broadus.
Appreciation was expressed to all of the judges who came in and judged a total of 108 judging hours of competition, as well as the Culbertson Chamber of Commerce for helping out with the hospitality room, our runners for literally doing a lot of legwork, Teri George and Gordan and Ardis Oelkers for getting everyone fed and the custodial staff for taking care of the extra cleanup.
The Culbertson speech and drama team traveled to Forsyth Dec. 15. Approximately 225 students were in attendance for the day’s competition.
Placing for Culbertson were: JT Eanes, first in spontaneous oral interpretation; Travis Green, first in informative; Violet Azure, second in impromptu; Rachael Gilbert, second in informative; Emma
Voigt, second in dramatic solo; Summer Romo, second in spontaneous oral interpretation; and Colby Olson, sixth in dramatic solo.
The team placed first in Class C Speech and second in Class C Drama.
