(Editor’s Note: This article is presented courtesy of the Liberty County Times in Chester.)
Francis LaBounty, 47, and his wife, Tanya LaBounty, 42, of Chester, were found deceased in a residence in Chester on Tuesday, Dec. 6, at 11:29 a.m. Both had suffered gunshot wounds to the head. A .357 revolver was recovered at the scene.

Tanya Labounty had been living apart from her husband since Thursday, Dec. 1, when Francis LaBounty was arrested following a domestic disturbance at their home.
Tanya LaBounty obtained a protective order against her husband and was living in a separate residence where the shootings occurred. The bodies were found as a result of a welfare check when Francis LaBounty’s vehicle was seen parked behind Tanya Labounty’s residence.
The bodies were taken to Billings for autopsy. Mr. LaBounty was the superintendent of CJI Schools, where Tanya LaBounty was also employed.
After autopsies were performed in Billings, it was determined that Tanya LaBounty was murdered by Francis LaBounty, who committed suicide.
LaBounty was the superintendent of Brockton School for the 2014-2015 and 2015-2016 school years.
